Two thrifty gift ideas with minimal/no sewing

Here are some great craft ideas that involve minimal to no sewing. Making gifts at home is a thrifty way to reduce waste, help the environment, and don't take forever to make and a PhD in engineering.

1.

For this one I would use a paper hand-protector from your favourite coffee shop as a pattern guide. If you don't have a sewing machine or are afraid of your sewing machine you can easily hand-stitch these. They would make great gifts, too. You can use felt or fabric and batting.

2. A DIY book purse/zippered gift bag

You might need to buy some glue for this one. Hit up your local thrift store's book shelves for an old hardcover that would do the trick. It could also be a sneaky book pocket on your shelves.
