Hot spiced cider




Hot Spiced Cider
  • One small apple (optional)
  • 1/2c brown sugar or dark honey
  • 8c apple juice or local cider
  • 1tsp whole allspice (I never have it around, but it's yummy if you do)
  • 1tsp whole cloves
  • 4-6 whole cinnamon sticks

    Method

    • Put the cider or juice into a saucepan and add spices in a spice bag (if you don't have one you can use some 100% cotton broadcloth, or some cheesecloth with the spices tied in the center.
    • Heat to a boil, and then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
    • Take the spices out of your spice bag and compost them (the cloth is reusable)
    • Finely slice some apple and put it in your mugs, pour hot juice/cider over it and serve
